About Staplefield Village

Staplefield is a thriving, lively community with the two pubs, a parish church, Village Hall and primary school. A number of events are organised throughout the year to bring the village together and combine to give Staplefield its unique character.

Since the 1920’s, Staplefield Village has held its annual fete now called ‘Fun Day’ on the green, which takes place on the second May Bank Holiday Monday each year (4th June in the 2012 Jubilee year). It is a traditional village fete with a variety of family entertainment. There’s Maypole dancing, dog agility, dog show, hog roast,  Big Band music and funfair rides and a variety of stalls; tea and wonderful homemade cakes are sold in The Pavilion. Alongside the Fun Day, the Annual Vintage Car Show continues to draw some interesting exhibits and a large crowd.

Staplefield Common is also a great place to watch the annual London to Brighton Veteran Car Run, normally on the first Sunday in November as well as the historic Commercial Vehicle London to Brighton run in May.
